Today was an especially tiring day for me. I don't know why, but I've been pretty knackered the past few days and today I had a few errands to run, uni to go to, a hair appointment to make, and I was running late pretty much for the whole day. I chose this outfit on the basis that I needed warmth and comfort to help me through such a busy day. I always find leather such an interesting material to style, and I love mixing up textures with it. Today I paired it with this casual denim shirt, a simple grey pull-over and this gorgeous yellow jacket which I LOVE. It's just the perfect colour to brighten up the winter blues.

As we all know, the Screen Actors Guild awards took place on Sunday night, and as a fashion student one of my favourite things to do is look in awe at all the beautiful dresses worn on the red carpet. Here's a few of my favourite looks from the red carpet.

Here is a quick outfit of the day post from today! I've called it 60's street as I paired a short 60's style polka dot mini skirt with a simple black and white t-shirt with mesh panels, a oversized boyfriend coat and my trusty New Balance trainers.

One of the perks of studying fashion is that we get to use one of the worlds best trend forecasting websites, WGSN. Today I've been looking at colour predictions for Autumn/Winter 16/17 and it's so interesting to see how trends move in circles. I also find it really cool that I can see what people are going to be wearing in two or three years time, it makes me feel like a time traveller or something (wouldn't that be amazing?)

Anyway, here's a few pictures showing what I've been looking at, and the colour's we'll all be wearing next winter!

As I mentioned in my previous post, i work in a restaurant in Leigh as a waitress. I absolutely love the food at The Grove, it's so varied and different, but far from pretentious. It's a great place to go if you feel like trying something new, and in the spirit of changing, the restaurant is going through a massive re-refurbishment including the menu. As a front of house team member we were all invited to taste some of the new dishes, which was an offer i would've been stupid to refuse! Here's a few pictures of the night.

Yesterday I was going to a food tasting at work ( I work in a restaurant- it's one of the perks) so I knew i needed something comfortable as you always do after stuffing yourself with food all night. These Missguided trousers were a perfect choice as they have an elasticated waist and the material is very loose fitting. I also love the floral and check pattern, it's quite a bold print and veers away from typical winter colours. I paired it with a simple t-shirt and a leather jacket to toughen it up a bit. I slipped into my trusty New Balance trainers which i absolutely adore, if you ever need a bit of stylish comfort, these guys are your best friend, and they go with pretty much everything.

I've been on a bit of a health kick recently, and breakfast for me is the best meal of the day, i just can't function without it. I saw this recipe on youtube and just had to try it out as it had a lot of ingredients i love included, and it seemed quick and easy to do. Everybody that knows me will agree that I'm not a natural chef by any stretch, but my one of my aims for this year is to start cooking more and this seemed a good place to start.

Ingredients:

Tortillas
2 eggs
Spinach
Tomatoes
Oil
Pumpkin seeds (or any seeds you have)
Sweet chilli sauce (optional)



How to:

Start off by chopping the tomatoes and then whisking together the two eggs in a bowl. Add a small amount of oil to a frying pan and add the egg mixture. Leave for a minute or so before adding the spinach. You'll need quite a lot as it wilts down (something i found out in the process of cooking this) stir together the eggs and spinach with a wooden spoon, and add the chopped tomatoes and seeds. While this is cooking heat up the tortillas. I did this by microwaving them but some people like to fry or toast them so it's up to you! Once everything is cooked, spoon your eggs and spinach on to a tortilla and add your sweet chilli sauce. Obviously this is to taste, and I love sweet chilli so that was an obvious choice to me, but anything goes here! Then the last thing to do is roll the tortillas, which is always a tricky task, especially to a self-confessed cook-a-phobe like me.


So there you go! I always think its good to experiment and try different things, especially with breakfast. It was so quick and easy, pretty much mess free and so healthy and filling.This may not be to everybody's taste but I loved it!

I've had this cutout aztec skater dress from Topshop for a while now, and it's always been my classic go-to piece in my wardrobe as its so easy to layer. I just love how the cutouts in the straps give it a bit of a cooler, more interesting edge. The weather lately has been extra cold as we all know, so I layered it up with a chunky cardigan and this gorgeous faux-sheep skin coat. My head was also feeling pretty cold that day so I threw on this hat which is a favourite of mine, as it goes with everything and brings a bit of edginess to an outfit. I think the moral of this outfit (can an outfit have a moral?) is that a summer dress can always be adapted for the winter by adding a few trusty knits!
