FILM FESTIVAL FAVES

By 03:09

As we all know, Cannes film festival is in full swing and it's one of my favourites for celebrity style. Not many other events can compete with the glamour and sparkle of the festival which sees all manner of stars descend on the French Riviera, clad in some of the fashion worlds most beautiful clothes by top designers. Here's a selection of some of my favourite looks.

Emma Stone
Emma Stone never fails to slay the red carpet and this was no exception. Despite the climatic circumstances Emma looked amazing in a black lace Oscar De la Renta mini dress, a risky length to wear in the wind. Accessories were sparse, and the simple black shoes allowed the intricate dress to speak for itself. Yet another winner from Emma!

Charlize Theron
A lemony yellow Dior Couture gown was the dress of choice for Charlize Theron at the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere, and she wore it with confidence- which you definitely need to have with yellow. I love the fit of this dress, it accentuates her shape beautifully and the flowing train provides a soft edge.

Fan Bingbing
Possibly my favourite dress at Cannes! Never one to shy away from bold fashion choices, Fan chose a Marchesa gown from the S/S15 collection, adorned all over with appliqué flowers. I love how she takes such risks with her gowns on the red carpet, always making a dramatic statement in everything she wears. I think she looked simply stunning and I have serious dress envy!

Lupita Nyong'o
For me, Lupita is one of the best dressed in Hollywood, her style is so classy and elegant and she definitely lived up to her rep in this gorgeous Oscar De la Renta chiffon dress at the Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc.

Fan Bingbing
Another winner from Fan Bingbing in a beautiful Ralph and Russo couture gown. I am literally in love with this dress, it's so detailed and intricate, and the billowing sleeves are the cherry on the cake for me, they give the dress an almost medieval feel.

Charlize Theron
This Valentino outfit may not be for everyone but i absolutely think Charlize pulls it off perfectly. I'm a big fan of fringing, and i love the fringed detail on the skirt and sleeves. The sheer polka dot mesh panel along the upper chest breaks the outfit up a bit without being too fussy, and minimal hair and makeup stop the overall look from being OTT.

Julianne Moore
In red velvet Givenchy couture, Julianne takes a risk by wearing head to toe red in different shades. It can be tricky for a red head to pull of red (believe me, i know) but Julianne does it really well by mixing up the shades. The dress is a deeper tone while her lipstick is a couple of shades lighter, the difference between the two is really subtle but balances it out perfectly. You can't get much more Hollywood than red velvet on the red carpet, and LOOK AT THE SHOES.

Naomi Watts
Elie Saab is a go-to designer for any red carpet event and Naomi Watts looked absolutely stunning in a couture gown embellished in sequins with a full feathered skirt, topped off with sparkling Bulgari jewellery.

Lupita Nyong'o
I know I've already mentioned Lupita Nyong'o during this post but I can't help it, this woman just doesn't stop killing it! I didn't think i could love her dresses any more than that Prada gown she wore at the 2014 Oscars but i think this one may have just trumped it for me. I absolutely love the colour of this Gucci gown, it seems Lupita can pull off any colour, she's great at wearing bold colours. The dress is head to toe pleats, and it could look quite heavy but the deep slashed neckline breaks it up perfectly, and the jewelled shoulders and waistline add a bit of bling to the all over colour.

Sienna Miller
I'm not normally a fan of navy blue gowns, I think they can sometimes look quite plain but the ruffled shoulder on this dress adds an intricacy that makes the dress much more interesting. Plus, Sienna Miller is wearing it, so it could never really look boring could it?
