LONDON FASHION WEEK: DAY FIVE

By 09:42

Day 5 was the last day of London Fashion week and us Brits closed the week in style with a day packed with amazing and innovative collections from some of my favourite designers.

ANYA HINDMARCH

Anya is known for finding humour in the mundane, and this collection, titled 'Diversion' certainly lived up to that reputation. The theme was traffic, and this was evident from the moment the show opened with bags stamped with slogans like 'slow down', 'GO', and 'No U turn'. Digging men road work signs were splashed across tote bags, and even the clothes echoed the motorway style. A truly fun and kooky collection, which is something we've grown to expect from Hindmarch.

MICHAEL VAN DER HAM

Michael van dar Ham's collection was gentle and lady-like, with feminine collaged gowns in pretty floral prints floating down the runway. There was jumpers with delicate brocade folds, oversized coats and shirts slipping off shoulders. It was extremely wearable and understated, but in no way forgettable.

RYAN LO

This was Ryan Lou's first show since graduating from Fashion East. He paid homage to leading ladies, from Anna Karenina to Elsa from Frozen. This wide range of inspiration made for a show packed with contrasts , like Victorian style blouses given a bit of punch with fringed lace skirts and bright knits with crocheted floral skirts for a romantic edge. The collection had a youthful energy, and  the clothes were just as fresh and fun as the designer that created them. Definitely one to watch.
