PARIS TRADESHOWS: FOOTWEAR
Here are some of the shoe trends that emerged during the Paris trade shows!
SKATER GIRL
Since 2014 the skater shoe has grown in popularity, and designers have evolved it for A/W 15/16 with a variety of updates. Theres the new boot style with zips and high ankles, making for a more practical shoe for the winter. Materials like wool, fur and shearling are used for a cosy approach, and details like tassels are borrowed from the loafer for a fresh take on the classic style.
THE SARTORIAL SHOE
Designers take inspiration from shoes like the loafer, the derby and the oxford, which have been given an update through the use of new materials, patterns and details. Metallics are used for a futuristic appeal, while heavy soles and thick stitching adds a more casual take.
TWEED DREAM
Wool is definitely becoming the material of choice for A/A 15/16, especially in bags and footwear. Shoes like trainers, sliders, and court shoes are given a wool-over in chunky Chanel-like tweeds for a feminine feel. Patterns come in a wide variety of check, dogtooth and leopard print.
