PARIS TRADE SHOWS- SHOES AND ACCESSORIES

By 05:53

The Paris trade shows took place from the 6th-9th of March, showcasing the best footwear and accessory brands for A/W15. Many of the styles seen were an echo of some of the designs we saw at London Fashion week, and for me it's interesting to see how the trends are developing before they hit the high street in time for Autumn. The 70's trend that dominated the S/S15 shows is still going strong, but we can also see splashes of 1960's mod occurring, and the pop art and slogan references spotted at the A/W15 shows are continuing to gather pace.

SEVENTIES SIREN

The Seventies was probably one of the biggest trends at both the S/S15 and it certainly shows no sign of abating for A/W15-16. The Paris trade shows displayed 70's style pieces that nodded at the more boho 70's style shown in the New York shows, as well as the more retro minimalist look from the London shows.

SIXTIES MOD CHIC

One trend that is beginning to rival that of the 70's is the 1960's mod trend, that started to make waves in Paris for A/W 15/16. The colour palette mainly sticks to a monochrome theme, with splashes of colour for an instant update on black and white. Classics like the loafer and structured shopper bags are given a makeover with geometric patterns and kooky designs.

POP ART

Fashion is heading towards a very fun A/W with bags and accessories given a quirky update in the form of comic strip typography with a colour palette of primary brights, neutralised slightly with classic black and white backgrounds.

GOTHIC GIRL

A contrast to the previous trend, the dark and elegant style of the Victorian age seen at designers such as Giles during fashion week was confirmed as another key trend for the A/W party season. The materials are luxurious and embellished, and it's all about the jewel encrusting seen on beanies, bags and chokers.

NOT SO MELLOW YELLOW

If you think yellow is meant only for the summer, think again. The colour is going to be making a surprise appearance during A/W 15/16, and relates well to the first three trends i discussed. The trend is versatile, you can hold a handbag with a splash of yellow on the sides alá Orla Kiely, or opt for a bold yellow shoe to really nail it.

THE BUCKET BAG

The bucket bag is continuing to be a key item for the season, with different versions of the classic bag coming in the form of minimalist colours, various sizes and 3D textures. Materials such as fur and shearling are good ways to give the bag a winter update.

So there you go! A quick round up of some of my favourites from the A/W 15/16 trade shows. I'll do another post soon focusing more on the footwear!
