LADYBIRD BOOKS EXHIBITION
My nan and grandad live in Sussex in a gorgeous little town called Bexhill, which is home to the De La War pavillion, a place which puts on loads of free exhibitions regularly of everything from art to fashion and more. While walking along the seafront we decided to go and have a look at what was on, and the exhibition we were greeted with was really interesting. 'LadyBird by design' showcased a large selection of Lady Bird books from the 1950's through to the 1970's. The exhibition focused on series like People At Work, the Science and Nature series, Well Loved Tales, Key Words, and the Shopping with Mother series which is below. LadyBird books were a really big part of my childhood, they taught me to read, and as i was growing up their fairytale series saw me through primary school. My parents also grew up with the books, which proves that Ladybird has travelled through generations. I like how simple the books are, and series like 'Shopping with Mother' show me Britain in much more innocent times.
