THE AMERICAN REVOLOTION

By 07:54

Us Brits definitley aren't strangers to adapting 'americanisms' words, cars, fashion, and especially food. I came downstairs the other day to my dad frying up some American style pancakes, and its pretty much the norm for me to order a milkshake when i go for a meal. American food has been here for a while now, and over the past few years, more and more restaurants in the style of 50's American diners have been popping up everywhere. American food is everywhere, and we see it in the same way as we do English food, it's pretty much the norm to order a burger when out for a meal.  I went to New York a while ago, and i got a taste of what real American food tastes like.

I've only just realised that I'm often eating American food, almost without realising it. Pancakes for breakfast, chocolate waffles and milkshakes are a few things that I've eaten recently.

Here some pictures that I took in New York. I've never seen such big portions in my life! I had pancakes for breakfast everyday in the Tick Tock Diner below our hotel, and the oreo cheesecake milkshake was the nicest (and most sickly) milkshake I ever tried. While in New York we visited 'Katz Delicatessen'- the diner featured in the film 'When Harry Met Sally', and i ate as the Americans did with a Pastrami on Rye sandwich and fries.

Whilst we've openly embraced the likes of milkshakes, deserts, pancakes and obviously burgers, the one thing that hasn't taken off quite so much is American meat like pastrami or salami which is MASSIVE over there. Maybe that's the next American food trend we are going to see arrive here in the UK?
