PRACTISE PHOTOSHOOT-TOO SCHOOL FOR COOL
My second practise photo shoot was 'Too school for cool' . I named it that because although i would describe the trend as preppy, it's not in the striped blazer and bow tie way that we all immediately imagine when hearing that word. I was inspired by the DKNY AW 15/16 collection because i loved how the boyish tailoring and primary colours came together to create a look reminisint of my school days but with a much more stylish, contemporary twist.
My main source of inspiration came from the DKNY show but i also took reference from the other designers i looked at. I used a sixties style mod shift dress that reminded me of the Daks and Orla Kiely collections, and i opted for sporty converse boots as footwear which reminded me of designers such as Tommy Hilfiger. I thought that they bought a touch of youth to the look which tied it in with the school theme. I chose to pair lime green and royal blue together because they are colours you wouldn't normally couple but a key element to the trend is block colouring. I like how the black and white stripes on the dress break up the two colours a bit. I chose a simple black leather rucksack, again to remind us of the school theme and to match the converse. The only thing i would change for this look for the real shoot is the hair. I think i would try to incorporate some kind of plait or updo for a more youthful look. Makeup is deliberately kept to a minimum.
