S/S16 BRIDAL

By 04:38

I speak for myself when I say that the snapchat story during the S/S16 Bridal shows made me feel just a little bit sad. There's nothing a girl loves to look at more then wedding dresses, and the designers certainly didn't let us down this year. Here's a quick round up of all the bridal trends for next year.

1970'S FLOWER CHILD

The 70's trend doesn't stop at bridal wear, with etherial bohemian influences in the form of tulle, chiffon and organza adorned with floral appliqué and floral beaded patterns.

 THE UNCONVENTIONAL BRIDE

The unconventional bride makes veers away from norm, instead making a statement with black accents, black lace, and opts for silver among other shades rather than the traditional white. Revealing sheer lace and chiffons are used as waists inserts and overlays for a provocative look.

THE CLASSIC

This bride is modern yet classic, and sticks to traditional white silk in ballgown or fit-flare-shapes to  highlight her elegant simplicity. Details like bows, high necks and off the shoulder styles are used to help embody the classic bride.

PLUNGING NECKLINES

Necklines take a plunge for 2016, plunging to just above the waistline. A rounded, sweetheart neckline is often used to soften the effect while sheer is used on lace and silk bodices.

OFF THE SHOULDER

One of my favourite bridal trends, off the shoulder necklines are continuing to influence the more sensual, revealing styles this season in a classically elegant fashion. This sort of neckline adds a touch of romance to bohemian style dresses or more formal structured lace and silk dresses.

BACKLESS

Like the previous selection, the backless style dresses add a sensual side to bridal wear, with revealing low cuts dipping to the waist in square and v shapes.

DETACHABLE TRAINS

The most practical of the bunch, designers have created ball gown overlays that attach to the sides and back of more fitted dresses, allowing you a dramatic entrance for the ceremony and a more functional style for the reception.

QUEEN OF THE RUFFLES

Ruffles and tiers were seen cascading down dramatic ball gowns adorned with floral and jewel embellishments.

METALLIC EMBELLISHMENTS

Metallic gold and silver embellishments veer away from traditional ideas with tonal white and translucent finishes. Beads in geometric patterns are used in favour of floral patterns.

PEARL EMBELLISHMENTS

Ever since Lupito Nyong'o stormed the Oscars in a Calvin Klein dress covered head to toe in pearls, pearl embellishments have started to sneak back into bridal design, adoring sheer sleeves, bodices and trains.

SANDY SHADES

Contrasting to the classic white and pastel blue hues seen last season, dresses in sandy shades of off-white and vanilla provide a fresh alternative for next season.
