AGE NOT APPLICABLE

During such a busy time in Fashion, I think it's important that we look to the older generation and realise how much inspiration and wisdom they bring to not only the fashion world, but the world in general. There has recently been a trend for the older generation being used in fashion with companies such as Loreal using the likes of Meryl Streep to advertise their products. Various companies are starting to recognise the strength in wisdom, with CĂ©line using older model Joan Didion in a campaign. I think it's so important and about time that big companies started using older models as inspiration, and that we as a younger generation recognise how admirable their experience and wisdom is, rather than ignoring it or brushing it off.

The pictures below show how style doesn't fade with age!

Both sets of my grandparents are honestly amazing in so many ways. My dads mum and dad are always on adventurous holidays and even take people older than them (my grandad is 85) on day trips. My mums mum and dad (in the pictures below) are both in their 70's and you'd never guess it. My grandad is always up a ladder doing jobs, and going for long walks. He does a 60 second plank every night which is more than i can manage most of the time. My nan always looks so elegant and has more style than a lot of girls my age do. They provide me with so much inspiration and knowledge everyday just by being in their presence, and i'm so glad that they are as youthful and energetic as they are. Together they prove that age doesn't mean a thing, spirit does, and they aren't alone in that.

Now is the time for the older generation. Gone are the days where the ages of 60+ were considered 'old', nowadays you can be young at 75 and that belief is increasing with each year. I think it's about time both the public and big brands started respecting the older ages more, after all, if it wasn't for them, none of us would be here.
