Anyone that's interested in fashion will know that Paris couture week wrapped up yesterday, and my instagram has been a picture book of couture creations for the past few days. Here are a few of my favourite collections. 

Alexis Mabille

This season, Alexis Mabille displayed his beautiful creations in celebration of his 10th anniversary. Here we can see stunning figure hugging dresses following an evident floral theme, that create an idealistic hourglass figure. There was also a reference to underwear, with subtlety sexy pieces with hints of lace, cinched in bodices and ribbon. 

Elie Saab 

For me, the Elie Sab show was everything a couture collection should be. Romantic, extravagant, elegant and simply beautiful. The show was inspired by the designers home roots, and Lebanese cedar trees were scattered along the catwalk in homage to his hometown in Beirut. 

Christian Dior

Raf Simons drew inspiration from music and the likes of David Bowie to showcase this futuristic yet retro collection. There was 50's full circle skirts, 60's mini pea coats and 70's jumpsuits, each with a contemporary twist. Each creation was paired with modern day brightly coloured latex boots. 

Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gauliter's designs are known for being crazy but beautiful, and this collection certainly conveyed that. The idea behind the show was '61 ways to say yes', and the wedding theme was clear from the outset with full length white gowns, and black tuxedo dresses. Naomi Campbell closed the show as a real life bridal bouquet, wrapped in orchids, green organza and cellophane, the traditional way to end a wedding. 

Giambatissta Valli

Florals again were a clear theme in this collection. References to the natural world were scattered around everywhere, from the rose prints, silk embroidered flowers, and petal covered corsets. This collection was wonderfully feminine and frills were everywhere, especially around the shoulders and sleeves. One of my favourite aspects of this collection was the contrast of ladylike silhouettes with sheer black panels to add a subtle sex appeal.
