NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: PART ONE

By 13:21

As we all know, Fashion week kicked off on the 12th of February in New York, and we've seen some truly wonderful creations by some of the worlds best designers. I've picked ten of my favourite collections (believe me, it was hard to narrow it down to ten) so here in part one I'll be showing you the first five. Enjoy!

Diane von Furstenberg

With the recent release of 50 shades of Grey, love is something that has definitely been on a lot of people's minds, and Diane von Furstenberg's romantic collection definitely fitted in with this mood. The DVF models seduced on the runway, dressed in feminine frills and furs. My favourite touch is the polka dot tights peeping through all of the dresses. Sexy.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs have always been clear on what sort of girl they are aiming at. This season, she was described by Vogue as a 'Protesting student in Paris' and i definitely agree with that statement. We saw punky plaid mixed with girly tulle party dresses, floral prints, embellished berets and the addition of bum bags tied around the waist- a trend i would really like to see take off.

Narciso-Rodriguez

Black and white is a common trend i picked up on while looking at New York fashion week, and Narciso-Rodriguez was at the head of the Monochrome fashion pack with his collection of chic, sharp and minimal creations. I love the splashes of corals and orange amongst the monochrome, it really balanced the collection out for me, and added a subtle femininity amongst some rather boyish tailoring.

Vera Wang

Another monochrome hit at NYFW was Vera Wang with models strutting oh-so cooly down the run way in masculine shirts, wide leg trousers, oversized jackets, straight down dresses and chunky boots. Wang cleverly displayed the urban street-chic look that's so popular right now while still keeping a touch of that red carpet glamour we all know and love.

Rebecca Minkoff

My top trend for this summer is 70's boho and I'm so happy the likes of Rebecca Minkoff have ensured it's return for AW15/16. Fringed boots, over sized ponchos, fedora hats and flowing floral blouses are just some of the designs we saw floating down the runway, letting us all know that one of the years biggest trends is here to stay (hooray!)
